Holding onto the World

I Day Dream

that As you sleep

I feel you breathe from across

the world

You almost smile

and I know its from going to sleep

thinking of me

And as I kick the dog out

I have to go snuggle in by you

Because you feel so simple and safe

and true.

The closer I get, though

You feel so wild and free

So strong and deep and

The faster my heart beats

and it almost seems unnatural

not to be

touching you vividly.

I sigh at humanity

needing, requiring

us to stay knee deep.

Swaying into intense dizziness

while settling so still

feeling simple and small

holding onto the world.
