After the Night...

The moon is a crescent peeking o'er the trees
The breeze slips melodiously by in the leaves
The birds silent, waiting for the dawn's song.
The owl is screeching what she's known all along...
And along the shore I see a light
The water black, but reflecting bright
A thousand fairies across the waves
Fireflies wait, they wait, they wait
A reflection shimmers in shadow still
I feel the presence of another's will
I move along the shore, the shore
Searching for Searching for forgotten lore.
And as I clear the forest path
Her eyes meet mine, in moonlight's bath
I stretch to see her in the night
Her eyes alive with my insight
How did we know to meet in this place?
What force could draw us to turn and face?
With reflections and shimmering resisting mirage
We keep walking, keep walking 'til we see our visage.
And in this moment we stop
Dead in our tracks
Neither can move
Nor can we relax
How could the fates bring us
here, In this way?
How could we remember
Each other's face?
But we do.
I see you.
Finally, my dear.
Yes, so long,
It has been, I fear.
I knew you would come.
I knew you would, too
The softest embrace
The quieter kiss
They dance in the moonlight
on the shore, on the shore
The coyotes, their symphony
Their whispers, their lore
And after the night
They fall in embrace
They sink in the softness
of truth's wild pace.
Awake, awake
The Sun High in the trees
Sparkling down
"I am pleased, I am pleased."
